In honor of my 30th [oh. my. GOSH!] birthday tomorrow, today I decided we would do a fun little post about 30 things I am grateful for.

For today’s post, I wrote down 30 things that have either inspired me, that I am grateful for, that I am obsessed with, that I have learned, or that I am just honored to have experienced in my lifetime.

I am grateful for my family: I almost feel this one should go without saying but I need to tell you how much I love them. Growing up my parents offered me the best life I could possibly dream of. I’m not saying this to make anyone jealous or anything of the sort but they both were incredible parents to my brother and me. We had yearly family vacations, nightly family dinners, and so much more. I am forever grateful for the home I grew up in, the values and lessons I was taught, and for the loving family that I have with my parents and brother.

I am obsessed with My Fiancé: Even though Steven has only been in my life for the last 5+ years, I could not imagine my life without him. Aside from being my very best friend, he constantly supports me and my crazy ventures. He listens to my ridiculous thought process and even tries to help me sort through it all. He watches me constantly throw internal temper tantrums when I just can’t get something right and still continues to love me and support me. It is safe to say I am obsessed with him.

I am grateful for my cousins and friends: Everyone always makes fun of me because I have lots of “best friends”. I am someone who deeply cherishes my relationships. I have four cousins who I am extremely close with who I consider my sisters. They have known me my whole life and still continue to choose to be my friend. I have several best friends and like to think that they each hold a place for every chapter in my life. I pour my heart into each relationship I have and when I connect with someone, I feel like I truly connect with them on all sorts of different levels. Who said you can only have one best friend?

I am thankful for my past relationships: The good and the bad. I’m not just talking about my ex’s but also my ex-friends or even friends who I have lost contact with. I truly believe people come in and out of your life for a reason. Each past relationship that I have experienced, I made sure I looked at the bigger picture. I tried to learn about the things that I loved from those relationships and I also took away lessons from the things that didn’t benefit me. I’m not going to say I didn’t deserve the way I was treated in certain relationships because I’m human and I wasn’t always wonderful but I am grateful for those experiences because I learned what I wanted and what I don’t.

I have learned to set boundaries: I am someone who for years [even up until recently], was constantly being taken advantage of. I ran around from friend to friend to event to this and that like a psycho to the point where I was always exhausted and I never put myself first. I would always do things for others or commit to events so that I didn’t make time for myself so I couldn’t fail and so I wasn’t considered ‘a bad friend’. I recently learned how to put myself first and at the same time decided to learn how to set some boundaries. I still continue to give but I have learned how to control my boundaries and I am more aware when I started to put others before myself.

I have learned time management: This goes hand-in-hand with boundaries, but I have finally learned how to slow [the F] down. I literally had my own time zone with my friends and family that was referred to as “Kara Time” which normally meant being a minimum of 20-30 minutes late to everything. What my friends and family didn’t realize was that it was because I was exhausted from over-committing myself or scheduling too many things back to back to back. This year I decided to make a conscious effort to not only be on time but to be early. It came at the cost of declining certain things but I am less stressed, happier, and proud to report that ‘Kara Time’ has improved by leaps and bounds.

I am obsessed with becoming a semi-pro: This is something I am truly proud of. Hell, I even have it on the front page of my blog bio. If you have hung around FCN for a while now, then you have heard me talk about all the things I love to learn and try. They say that blogs are supposed to have a ‘niche’ to be successful but that just didn’t sit well with me. I love to learn and when I find something I am interested in, I go all in. When my friends talk about me they say i’m knowledgable about fitness, beauty, DIY, business, blogging, career advice, relationship advice [that came from experience unfortunately] but I love that my friends, readers and even strangers can approach me on a wide variety of topics and all of which I LOVE to talk about. I could seriously talk about them for days!

I have learned to remove the fear: This is all thanks to my new found, undiagnosed anxiety. Over the last year or so I started to experience what I believe is anxiety. Again, I was never diagnosed but whenever I feel stress coming on or like I am about to freak out, I stop and ask myself what is causing these emotions. It has helped tremendously because I realize it’s usually my fear of failing and then I just breathe and work through it. I am grateful for it because I believe it makes me work harder but also it makes me stop and think about what I am caring about and if I am misplacing my energy or emotions somewhere they shouldn’t be.

I learned it’s okay to be selfish: For the longest time, I was selfish but for the wrong reasons. In high school it was because I wanted to go to this party or have that experience and in college it was because I was obsessed with that life. Now I have redirected ‘my selfish’. I have learned it is okay to put myself first and to be selfish with things I truly love and am passionate about like my blog and business.

I am grateful for college: It took a year to convince my parents to let me go away to school [after my first year staying home], but I am so happy I was persistent. I cannot say enough amazing things about going away to school. Aside from the education, I literally grew up overnight. I was never the kind that depended on my parents [I was always pretty independent], but I really learned how to live on my own and outside of my comfort zone. I made incredible friendships, I was on the college field hockey team, and overall my friends and I just have so many amazing memories. Also, I honestly feel like if I didn’t have my college experience back then, that I would still be doing the things I did when I was away at school now.

I am obsessed with puppies: If you haven’t already heard, I am obsessed with puppies. I mean I’m not going to drag this one out because it is pretty self explanatory but seriously… Obsessed!

I am constantly inspired by meeting new people: Over the last year, I like to think my blog and my blogging relationships have really taken off. Aside from my little community of friends, I have found so many inspiring souls over the last few months on Instagram and Facebook. Seeing the way people grow and challenge themselves makes me want to do the same. You know what they say, game recognize game. Right? Something like that. 😉

I am obsessed with dessert: I know I have said this before but I could literally eat dessert for every meal 365 days a year. It’s gross.

I am grateful for my blog: When I started this journey, it was something I never could have imagined. Blogging has changed my life in so many ways for the better. I have been able to network with companies and I have created amazing, supportive friendships that I never knew existed. It has brought me out of my comfort zone – tremendously – and it has seriously upped my skill set. I am so fascinated with what I was able to learn over these last four years but also how quickly I adapted and grew. I learned everything from photography, SEO , analytics, photo editing, email marketing, affiliate marketing, website creation, social media management and so much more.

I am learning to listen to myself: This has been a work in process over the last year but I have finally learned to listen to myself and to go with my gut. I am making better decisions for myself and my business and I could not be happier. [Side note: I will be speaking more on this topic at this event on August 27th]

I am obsessed with lists and planners: The obsession is real! I seriously love making lists and checking things off as I go along. It makes you feel so much more accomplished throughout the day [seriously]. I also love having everything organized in one place so planners help me with that.

I am grateful for my mistakes: I know that sounds cliche or silly but honestly I really try to learn from my mistakes. I feel like when you learn from your mistakes you truly grow and then you don’t waste your time in the future. My friends that know me, know I’m all about efficiency so wasted time is not okay with me.

I am obsessed with trying new wines: My fiance and I since day one have been obsessed with trying new wines. We really didn’t drink wine before we started dating but since we started – and since we live so close to the north fork – we have become obsessed.

I am inspired by learning new beauty tips and tricks: As you already know, I love to learn. I really wish YouTube beauty tutorials were a thing in high school or even college because then I wouldn’t cringe when I see my college eyebrows. Anyways, I am constantly inspired by beauty gurus Desi Perkins and LustreLux [see giveaway below] and love learning new techniques.

I am obsessed with self-help books: Yes I am a self-help book junkie. I feel like you can never have enough information and you can really never stop learning.

I learned how to stop giving a sh*t: I used to give so many sh*ts [haha] but seriously I stopped worrying and caring about so much crap and I feel like 20lbs was lifted off of me. I now chose to focus on myself, my relationships and the positives. If there is drama, I avoid it like the plague.

I am obsessed with being alone: I love being alone! Is that weird? I just love being in the moment and having time to myself to sort my thoughts and things.

I am grateful for my health: One of the scariest things I’ve ever done was fitness competitions. However, those competitions taught me so much about health and fitness and they inspired me to become a personal trainer. I am happy and I am healthy.

I am obsessed with traveling and visiting new places: One of my favorite things to do is travel and experience new places, new foods, and new cultures.

I am grateful for my fitness competition experiences: One of the things I learned from my competitions is that women can be catty. I know it’s sad but it’s true. I learned very quickly to look out for myself. I also learned that there are amazing people in the fitness industry and some of those people have become great friends to me.

I am learning to live in the moment: This ties into my anxiety but I am learning to remove the worry and fear and live in the moment. I wasted so much time living in the past or worrying about the future but over the last year I really started to focus on living in the now and appreciating the moment.

I am inspired by wedding photos: I know it may seem like a given since I am engaged but even before I was engaged, I was constantly inspired by the beauty in weddings and in wedding photos. I love looking at decor, hairstyles, beauty looks, etc.

I am grateful for my mentors: I don’t know where I would be without my mentors. They have helped me through some really tough times and have taught me incredible lessons about business and life in general.

I am obsessed with cute office supplies and home decor: I mean who isn’t right? But seriously I just can’t get enough. Maybe it is because I am in the middle of redoing my apartment but I am o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d!

I am obsessed with creating my next chapter: My new business has become my baby. I have put in countless hours and am constantly working on creating new, amazing things. I am also excited for this next chapter, thirty. I am terrified to leave my 20’s behind because they were so absolutely incredible but I am excited to see what the 30’s have in store for me.
